CLAPHAM  TOWN  HOUSE

Kitchen and Ground Floor refurbishment

Clapham Town House: Projects

It all started with a cow...

The owners of this Clapham Town House wanted a kitchen and living room that would give them the space to cook and entertain in style - combining their love of deep colour, antique pieces and modern art (including the Cow - the first artwork the owners bought when they met).

The layout of the ground floor needed to be changed to provide more space, storage and light.

The interior layout was completely reconfigured:  In the kitchen, a bespoke utility area was built and more space created by removing a rarely used WC.  An elegant and cleverly designed island sits centrally within the kitchen, which can be moved to its designated space to accommodate a huge table for dinner parties. A bespoke kitchen dresser accommodates a wine fridge and USB charging points and further bespoke joinery holds  the owners' large collection of crockery and glassware.  The kitchen has two sinks (one with a Quooker tap) and provides fabulous counter space for cooking on the gorgeous Lacanche range cooker. A window seat with extra storage and a new kitchen window allow views into the pretty garden. The existing doors to the garden were retained and are framed by soft linen curtains.   A bespoke coat cupboard with space for Motorbike helmets, school bags and shoes has transformed the open plan living room and hallway. Throughout the ground floor, underfloor heating has been installed and a beautiful white-oiled parquet floor bounces light around, balancing the strong blues of the kitchen.

And the Cow sits pride of place in the kitchen.
